Gregory House (Hugh Laurie)
Gregory House, M.D. – Portrayed by actor Hugh Laurie, Gregory House, M.D. is the fictional character of the medical drama series “House, M.D.”. Dr. House is the anti hero of the show who works in a fictional hospital called the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. House is a medical genius who specializes in infectious disease diagnostics and those that involves nephrology. House work as Chief of Diagnostic Medicine wherein he works with a team of doctors. Usually described as cynical, misanthropic, narcissist and even curmudgeon, House proved several times that his unorthodox approach on his diagnoses leads to solving cases that most doctors would have overlooked. Somehow, House’ character has been inspired by the character of Sherlock Holmes. Despite his genius mind, House suffers from drug addiction on using a drug called Vicodin which he uses as a pain killer.

James Hugh Calum Laurie was born on June 11, 1959. The English actor, best known as Hugh Laurie was first introduced to the people with his comedic act in “Fry and Laurie” where he partnered with Stephen Fry. After that, Laurie became part of the cast of “Blackadder” from 1987 to 1999. It was in 2004 when he was introduced to the public viewers as the cynical doctor in the medical drama series “House, M.D.”. He plays the role of Dr. Gregory House that have nominated him in several award giving bodies like the Emmy and Golden Globe. Based on reports as of 2010, Hugh Laurie is the highest paid drama actor in US television.
